Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers

About the CFTT

The effort to start a community foundation for the region was begun in 2001 with a community gathering of fifty-four individuals who agreed to assist in the work of establishing a community foundation and signed up to work on committees.

On December 31, 2001, the foundation became incorporated as a not-for-profit in Pennsylvania and obtained permission to operate as a foreign not-for-profit corporation in New York State. It was granted its tax exempt 501 (c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Services on September 20, 2002.

The four original counties selected to be served by the foundation were Bradford, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County in New York State. In 2009 Potter County joined the CFTT.

The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) is guided by a set of by laws and administrative, investment and spending, grantmaking, and governance policies. It is presently governed by a fifteen person Board of Directors (3 representatives from each of the five counties served) that meets bi-monthly.

This web site contains most of the information available on the foundation. Persons with interest are encouraged to become part of this effort. Contact information is provided for this purpose as well as providing a way for individuals to have any of their questions answered.
