Search for New CEO in its Final Stages

The CFTT will be holding interviews for the new CEO in mid September and hopes to have chosen someone for the position by it Board meeting in October. There were 32 applicants for the position and five were chosen to be interviewed. The selection committee consists of Bill Ransom, Board Chair; Joseph Picco, Board member; George Houser and Bob Hogan, former Board members; and Marilyn Bok, present CEO.

2011 Annual Meeting Highlights

At its eighth annual meeting held at the Towanda Country Club in Wysox, PA the Board of Directors of the CFTT presented the Foundation’s eighth edition of their annual report to the community. The theme of this year’s report is “Helping You Create Better Communities.”

From the CFTT’s perspective Marcus Aurelius, about two thousand years ago, said it best when he said, “The only wealth which you will keep forever is the wealth you have given away.” Believing in this quote, the CFTT was created back in 2002 to be a vehicle to facilitate the philanthropic desires of ordinary citizens and organizations to build better communities.

The highlights of 2010 include the institution of a quarterly electronic newsletter – the CFTT Focus. The CFTT also hired a part-time financial assistant and saw a forty-two percent (42%) increase in our assets under management. CFTT total assets rose to $1.6 million from $1.2 million and ended the year with thirty-seven funds under management. The CFTT was also able to return over $59,000 in grant funds to the community.

The new funds for 2010 included the Ulysses Library Endowment Fund, the Troy Lions Club Huck Scholarship Fund and the Angels over Iraq and Afghanistan Project Fund. One of the things stressed in the report is that as the Twin Tiers grows, the CFTT will remain firmly rooted in the community as an organization governed by local people, knowing local needs, raising funds locally and giving grants to local organizations to serve those needs. Your funds invested with the CFTT won’t leave the community. They will be used as you the donor wishes. The CFTT’s role is to help you fulfill your charitable goals.

You can find a list of the 2010 donors and the funds they supported as well as a complete list of grant recipients and grant funds in the report or on this website. Free copies are available by contacting the CFTT office.

Corporate Sponsorship Campaign Underway

The CFTT Board of Directors is presently conducting a Corporate Sponsorship Program to help ensure the future of the CFTT by providing the CFTT with additional operating funds. The CFTT has been operating over the last ten years with a volunteer staff person in the CEO position and with the retirement of the present CEO now needs to find the funds for paid staff. Since the CFTT has proven its value to the community, the CFTT Board of Directors is acting on this fact and asking for the community’s support of the organization and the work that it does.
