CFTT Announces Key Gift to Capital Campaign

Bill Ransom, Capital Campaign Chairman for the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) announced today the CFTT has received its first payment toward fulfillment of a $10,000 pledge to its Capital Campaign for Operating Funds from Citizens & Northern Bank. The goal of the campaign is to raise $300,000 over three years as the CFTT moves from a totally volunteer organization to one with some paid part-time staff.

Jim Parks, Vice President of C&N Bank stated, “C&N is pleased to continue our support of the Community Foundation as it grows in its ability to assist local non-profits carry on and grow the vital services they provide in these counties. Their service area almost matches that of the bank.” CFTT serves Bradford, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County in New York State.

Marilyn Bok, Board Chair stated, “C&N Bank has been a strong supporter of the Community Foundation since the idea was first floated in 2001. Their encouragement and in-kind services were crucial to the success of the start-up efforts.” The CFTT was the fastest growing community foundation in Pennsylvania in 2006.

Ransom stated, “Up until now the Foundation has being operating on a totally volunteer basis but the time has come for this to change if the foundation is to reach its full potential for helping the community. To do this, the CFTT initiated this campaign to raise sufficient funds to make this possible. We are asking the community for their support in raising enough funds to make this possible.

CFTT is a purely public charity, incorporated as a non-profit, that has been granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS. The mission of the CFTT is to continuously improve the present and future quality of life in the counties served by the Foundation.

The CFTT establishes endowment funds from contributions of many individual citizens, corporations, other foundations, other charitable organizations and government agencies for philanthropic purposes. As the endowment funds grow, the earnings from these funds are used to make grants to organizations or projects that serve identified community needs or are designated by the donor.
