Grant Funds Available to Bradford County Teachers

Once again the Bradford County Advisory Board of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) decided to make grants available to teachers in Bradford County for projects that will enhance their curriculum and the ability of their students to learn. Teachers in Bradford County teaching in qualified institutions who have an idea on how to improve their curriculum will be eligible to submit grant applications. The Advisory Board has clearly indicated that they are not looking to fund single events.

Grant recipients must agree to share their curriculum enhancements with other teachers in the county by allowing their curriculum to be posted on the CFTT website. The Board felt that by offering this grant they would be enhancing the curriculum of more students in the county and helping ensure the continued upgrading of resources available to our school teachers. Submission deadline is May 18, 2007.

The CFTT has setup a special section on its website called Donor’s Choice Network for any project proposals the CFTT finds worthy but is not able to fund because of the lack of grant funds. The CFTT will post these proposals on their website and make them available to other potential funders. The CFTT feels that by offering residents an opportunity to directly fund a project, this gives members of the community another way to directly assist in the educational attainment of all students.

The Bradford County Unrestricted Fund from which these grants are made was set up to meet the unmet needs in Bradford County. The Bradford County Advisory Board will recommend grant recipients to the CFTT Board of Directors.

CFTT serves the residents of Bradford, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County in New York State. It is a purely public charity, incorporated as a non-profit organization, which has been granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS.

The mission of the CFTT is to continuously improve the present and future quality of life in the counties served by the Foundation. It establishes endowment funds from contributions of many individual citizens, corporations, other foundations, other charitable organizations and government agencies for philanthropic purposes. As the endowment funds grow, it uses the interest earned on these funds to make grants consistent with the goals and interest of the donor and, in the case of undesignated funds, to organizations or projects that serve identified community needs.

Anyone interested in submitting a proposal, learning more about the CFTT or in establishing a fund can contact the organization by any of these methods: telephone - 570-888-4759; fax - 570-888-2179; email - cftt@stny.rr.com ; or visit the website - www.twintierscf.org.

CFTT is dedicated to making a difference locally "for good - for everTM"
