Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers

Grant Making

A community foundation is an institution to which much is given and therefore is an institution from which much is expected. The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) must continuously answer these questions:
          "What's important to our community?"
"What are its most pressing needs and who will define them?"
"How will we help our donors and the community in meeting those needs?"

Grant making and leadership are at the heart of a community foundation's work. In essence, grants are why we do what we do. They show our commitment to make a difference in the communities we serve and the way we fulfill that commitment. They are acts of great generosity and at the same time, great privilege. As a community foundation, we offer great value through our grant making and leadership.

To have a successful grant making programs a community foundation must successfully work through these program elements: managing the grant making program, exercising strategic grant making, working with grantees, working with donors, and exercising community leadership. The information contained in this section shows our efforts to date in these areas. You will also find information on funding opportunities and processes, those grants we have awarded, and our policies and procedures.
