Serendipitous or Deliberate
Welcome to the website of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT). We are happy you stopped for a visit. We have taken great pains to ensure this website contains the information you are seeking. Be sure to check out our breaking news section on this site for information on our most current activities.
Our Community Foundation was started in 2002. It was set up by the community for the community. Consider us an investment in the rural counties we serve of Bradford, Potter, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania and Tioga County in New York State. We straddle the border between the southern tier of New York and the northern tier of Pennsylvania and are surrounded every day with beautiful mountain & scenic river vistas. Sitting at the northern end of the Appalachian Mountain chain, the meandering Susquehanna River transverses the region and provides both passive and active recreational opportunities to our residents and visitors.
We are one of approximately 700 community foundations in the United States that range in size from a few thousand dollars to over $2 billion in assets, and provide services and opportunities as varied as the communities they serve. Community Foundations are independent, tax-exempt public charities created by and for the people in a local area. They enable people with philanthropic interests to support the issues they care about, easily and effectively. They create long-term assets for communities to sustain the people who live there by growing endowment funds, investing those funds, and returning the earnings from those funds to the communities served in the form of grants.
